Users may experience a bad stomach-ache, sickness and/or diarrhoea. Worse still you may eat the wrong type of mushroom, many mushrooms which look like magic ones, are very poisonous. Eating a poisonous mushroom can cause serious illness and even fatal poisoning.

A bad trip may also happen, especially if the user is already feeling anxious or depressed. A bad trip can be very frightening and once the trip has started there is no stopping it.

What is the legal status of magic mushrooms?

It isn’t an offence to possess raw magic mushrooms but it is an offence to possess any preparation of them e.g. when they are dried or stewed. Once prepared magic mushrooms are a class A drug.
